Google has joined the viral fun by adding an Easter Egg tied to the “6-7” meme. Now, when users type “6-7” or “67” in the search bar, the results page briefly shakes, mimicking the hand motion associated with the trend. The effect works on both desktop and mobile and has already sparked reaction videos across TikTok, X, and Instagram.

What is the 67 or ‘6-7’ trend?

The meme originated from the 2024 song Doot Doot (6 7) by Philadelphia rapper Skrilla. The phrase itself is largely nonsensical, which is central to its appeal. Its popularity surged further after NBA player LaMelo Ball, who is 6 feet 7 inches tall, was linked to the trend. Social media users now use the phrase in short videos, memes, and even at basketball games when a team scores 67 points.

Dictionary.com named “6-7” its defining expression of the year, noting that for Gen Alpha it functions as an inside joke pronounced as two separate numbers, while older users see it as a reminder of how fast slang evolves online.

A meme for the absurd

The meaning of “6-7” is intentionally fluid. Dictionary.com says some interpret it as “so-so” or “maybe this, maybe that,” while others use it just to confuse and amuse. The site classifies it as “brainrot slang”—nonsensical, playful, and absurd, following the trend of last year’s viral term, “skibidi.”

Steve Johnson, director of lexicography for the Dictionary Media Group at IXL Learning, said, “It’s part inside joke, part social signal and part performance. When people say it, they’re not just repeating a meme; they’re shouting a feeling. It’s one of the first Words of the Year that works as an interjection – a burst of energy that spreads and connects people long before anyone agrees on what it actually means.”

The meme has permeated multiple layers of pop culture. It has appeared on South Park, lent its name to a pardoned pig, and now it even shakes Google’s search results page.
