"In a shocking discovery, what began as a child's innocent fear of monsters lurking in her room led to an astonishing revelation for Ashley Massis Class and her family. Within the walls and attic of their century-old farmhouse, they uncovered a staggering population of over 50,000 bees, evoking both awe and apprehension.

Class recounts her daughter's initial claims of hearing 'monsters,' attributing it to a child's vivid imagination influenced by popular culture. "She was saying she heard monsters in her bedroom wall, but we'd been watching Monster's Inc.," Class shared with PEOPLE. The situation took a serious turn when the toddler's persisting fear prompted closer inspection.

"She was just freaking out. She had to stay in our room, and she kept saying there were monsters," Class elaborated, hinting at a possible regression stemming from recent family changes.

Suspicions arose when the family noticed honeybees in their attic, prompting them to seek assistance from a pest control company. However, conventional methods couldn't address the issue due to the bees' endangered status. This led them to enlist the help of a beekeeper, whose thermal imaging unveiled the extensive hive concealed within the walls.

"At first, I thought it was a body. I was like, 'What is that?' And he says he thinks it's a hive," Class recalled, describing the eerie scene as bees poured out like a scene from a horror film. The discovery of the colossal hive, dripping honey resembling blood, painted a surreal picture in her daughter's room.

As the family grappled with the unexpected presence of thousands of bees, they navigated conversations with their toddler, easing her fears and introducing her to the beekeeper, affectionately dubbed 'Mr. Monster Hunter.'

"I'm really thankful my husband and I are on leave right now and that we can deal with this situation, but at the same time, hearing the sound of humming bees on the other side of a door is kind of terrifying," expressed Class.
