To emphasise the gender disparity in Maharashtra's Solapur, bachelors dressed up in bridal attire, mounted horses, and marched in a parade.

50 bachelors dressed in bridal gowns,'sehras,' and riding horses marched to the Collector's office in Solapur, Maharashtra, to seek wives and highlight gender inequality. The bachelors staged a march to draw attention to the issue of Maharashtra's skewed male-female ratio. They also urged that the Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (PCPNDT) Act be implemented in order to enhance the state's male-female ratio.

The fest was part of a 'bridegroom morcha' organised on Wednesday by a local outfit, which later submitted a declaration to the district collector's office demanding strict implementation of the Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (PCPNDT) Act to improve the state's male-female ratio.

According to the National Family Health Survey (2019-21), Maharashtra has a sex ratio of 920 females for every 1,000 males.

Shilvant Kshirsagar, 29, a dairy farmer, was one of 50 eligible bachelors looking for wives.

People may scorn this morcha, according to Ramesh Baraskar, founder of the Jyoti Kranti Parishad, which organised the event, but the terrible fact is that youth of marriageable age are not acquiring wives simply because the state's male-female ratio is imbalanced.

In the popular video, the band members are seen marching forward while playing the drums, while the groom riding on the horse is seen following them. This one-of-a-kind performance concept astounded everyone. The children demanded that rules outlawing female feticide and sex determination be reinforced. Those who violate these laws should face severe punishment.
