According to police reports cited by TOI, the woman had stopped at a roadside food stall before deciding to take a walk with her friend around 3 am. During the stroll, a youth, later identified as Gaurav Bhati (25), approached her, snatched her mobile phone, and fled towards the hilly terrain.
When the woman pursued him, Bhati allegedly grabbed her and dragged her further into the Aravalis, where the assault took place. Her friend attempted to intervene, but the assailant reportedly fled when confronted. The friend immediately contacted the police.
Authorities from three nearby police stations quickly reached the scene and took the accused into custody. Bhati has been charged, and further investigations are underway.
The victim, a resident of Sirsa currently living in a paying guest accommodation in the city, was taken to Civil Hospital for a medical examination. Police have confirmed that her condition is stable.
This incident has once again raised concerns over the safety of women in isolated areas, particularly during late-night hours. Authorities have urged citizens to exercise caution and report any suspicious activity immediately.
Police officials also said that measures are being reinforced in the area to ensure such incidents do not recur.
