Instagram user Shivanjali shared the breakdown in a video, detailing where her money went throughout the month.
₹25,000 spent on rent and maintenance
Shivanjali said she lives in a three-BHK apartment with her college friends. Her share of the monthly rent and maintenance is ₹25,000.She usually eats breakfast and lunch at her office, which helps reduce her daytime food expenses. For dinner, she splits the cost of a cook with her flatmates, contributing around ₹2,000 a month.
Her share of household groceries costs another ₹3,000.
She shared the video on Instagram by writing the caption “September expenses breakdown ft. 26yo corporate girlie living in Bangalore”.
Dining out, Swiggy and Zomato add ₹12,000
While eating at the office helped her save on breakfast and lunch, dining out and food delivery contributed significantly to her monthly spending.“And of course, all the random dining-outs, Swiggy and Zomato orders added up to ₹12K,” she said.
House help and travel expenses
Shivanjali spends around ₹1,000 as her share of the cost of a house help who assists with cleaning and other household chores.₹6,000 on subscriptions
Her monthly expenses also included several digital subscriptions. AI tools, iCloud, OTT platforms and other subscriptions together cost her around ₹6,000.Shopping, personal care and miscellaneous expenses also formed a part of her monthly budget.
“Finally, shopping, personal care, and all those random miscellaneous expenses came to around ₹7K,” she said.
Total September spending: ₹63,000
After adding up all the expenses, Shivanjali said she spent a total of ₹63,000 in September.“So after adding everything up, I spent a total of ₹63K in September. And honestly, seeing the final number was slightly scary, but at least now I know where my money went,” Shivanjali said.
