Police said the victim, identified as Ishita Yadav, was from Bihar and she befriended a man from Madhya Pradesh through a social media platform in 2020. The two were in a live-in relationship for the last five years and got married in February this year in the presence of their family members in Patna.
After marriage, the couple stayed in an apartment in Miyapur in Hyderabad. But recently, after the marriage, tensions had recently escalated between the couple, with the husband allegedly subjecting her to mental harassment over demands for additional dowry, the police official told PTI.

Police further stated that the husband, who had launched a start-up, was also pressuring her family to invest in his business. Unable to endure the continued harassment, the woman died by suicide, the official added, citing preliminary investigation. The accused has been taken into custody, and further investigation is underway, police said.
"In February this year, they got married in Patna in the presence of their family members. After marriage, the couple was staying in an apartment in Miyapur here," the official added. "Further, the woman's husband, who set up a start-up company, was also harassing her family members to invest in his firm," police said. "Unable to bear the harassment, she died by suicide," the official said, based on preliminary investigation. The accused has been apprehended and further investigation is underway, police added.
On receiving information about the incident, the police reached the spot and conducted inquiry. Based on the complaint filed by the woman's family members, a case was registered at Miyapur Police Station and her husband was taken into custody.
