In a distressing incident, a 17-year-old student collapsed and died of cardiac arrest in his classroom at Lal Bahadur Shastri High School in Gujarat's Rajkot on Monday, as per a report in the Times of India.

Mudit Nadiyapara, a Class 12 student, suddenly collapsed from his bench, prompting immediate intervention from the school's principal and teacher. He was administered cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and rushed to the civil hospital, but unfortunately, doctors declared him dead upon admission.

Mudit's father, Akshay, who works as a security man at the civil hospital, expressed shock and disbelief. He stated that his son had never contracted COVID-19 and had received both doses of the vaccine. Mudit had no known illnesses or medical history.

During the autopsy, a doctor from the forensic medicine department at the civil hospital revealed that Mudit suffered from a rare form of cardiomyopathy, a condition characterised by an unusually thickened left ventricular wall. The doctor further explained that one side of Mudit's heart wall was significantly thickened, while the other side lacked muscles and consisted only of fibrous tissues. The doctor added that if Mudit had lived for another two or three years, this part of his heart would have likely ruptured.

According to the school authorities, Mudit had been experiencing a viral cold and fever in the days leading up to the incident. However, on the day of the tragic event, he appeared to be in good health.

Daksha Rojariya, Mudit's class teacher, described him as a bright student who actively participated in cultural activities. She shared that just before a Gujarati language test, Mudit started sweating profusely and collapsed within minutes.

Mudit, the eldest of two siblings, resided with his parents in the Rail Nagar area. The untimely loss of such a young and promising student has left the school community and his family devastated.

Earlier this month, another class 12 student suffered a heart attack and died on his very first day of school in Madhya Pradesh's Chhattarpur. As per the parents of the deceased, named Sarthak Tikaria, he never had any health issues.
