Delhi Police Traffic Advisory Independence Day 2025: Check full list of closed roads, alternate routes and other restrictions

The Delhi Traffic Police has issued restrictions and diversions for the Independence Day full-dress rehearsal on August 13 and for the main event on August 15. The measures will be in effect around the Red Fort and adjoining areas to ensure security and smooth traffic flow.

Road closures (4 am – 10 am)

Only vehicles with valid parking labels will be allowed on the following stretches:

Restrictions for goods vehicles and buses

• Goods vehicles: No entry between Nizamuddin Khatta and Wazirabad Bridge from midnight of August 12 to 11 am on August 13.
  
  
• Interstate buses: No entry between Maharana Pratap ISBT and Sarai Kale Khan ISBT during the same period.
  

Diversions for buses

From Trans-Yamuna area

1. Buses to Red Fort/Old Delhi Railway Station via ISBT Bridge (Yudhisthar Setu) to terminate at Boulevard Road near Mori Gate ‘U’ turn.
   
   
2. Buses to Connaught Place/Central Secretariat via ISBT Bridge – Boulevard Road – Rani Jhansi Flyover – Mandir Marg – Peeli Kothi – S.P. Mukherjee Marg.
   
   
3. Buses to South Delhi to follow above till Mandir Marg, then via Shankar Road – Upper Ridge Road – Simon Bolivar Marg – Dhaula Kuan.
   
   

From Vikas Marg

1. North Delhi-bound buses via Marginal Bandh Road (Pusta) – GT Road – Shastri Park – ISBT Bridge – Boulevard Road.
   
   
2. South Delhi-bound via Mother Dairy Road – NH-24 – Ashram Chowk.
   
   
3. New Delhi-bound to drop passengers near Vikas Marg New Bus Stand, then return via IP Flyover.
   
   

Interstate buses entering Delhi

• From Ghaziabad: via Bopura Chungi Road – Wazirabad Road – Chandgi Ram Akhara – ISBT.
  
  
• From Dhaula Kuan: Ring Road – Punjabi Bagh – Azadpur – Chandgi Ram Akhara – ISBT.
  
  
• Between ISBT and Faridabad: terminate at Sarai Kale Khan or follow Ring Road via Dhaula Kuan – Punjabi Bagh – Azadpur – Chandgi Ram Akhara – ISBT.
  
  

Interstate buses leaving Delhi

• No U-turn at northern Ring Road loop near Budh Vihar; divert towards Wazirabad or via ISBT Flyover loop.
  
  
• Buses to Loni Border via Wazirabad Bridge; buses to Ghaziabad via ISBT Bridge.
  
  

Public advisory

Authorities have advised citizens to plan travel in advance, avoid restricted routes, and use suggested alternative roads. Only labelled vehicles will be permitted on certain roads during the restricted hours.
