150 cartons of Cadbury chocolate stolen from godown in Lucknow

In a bizarre turn of events, a gang of thieves stole around 150 cartons of Cadbury chocolates from a godown in Lucknow.

The thieves also stole a few boxes of biscuits and a video recorder, among the boxes of chocolate.

The owner of the godown is Rajendra Singh Sidhu, a well known distributor of the popular name brand chocolate in the state capital.


He has filed a police complaint and stated that the godown in the Chinhat area was actually his old house and was only temporarily being used as godown. He also said that the all the stock in the godown were supposed to be distributed to retailers.

The Cadbury distributor said in an interview that while they have filed an FIR at the closest police station, if anyone else has an input on the case, they should mention it.

On the day of the event, Sidhu received a call from his old house neighbour and said that the lock to his house had been broken. When the godown was opened and it was completely empty. Another neighnour had also informed the owner that he had heard a pick-up truck late at night, which might be how the items were transported, according to a news report.

Police are investigating the matter and inspecting CCTVs to get a lead in the case.
