The boy, Nihal, apparently left his home on Sunday night, and when he didn't come back, his family and nearby residents started looking for him, according to the Edakkad police.The boy's dead body was discovered around 8 pm in Muzhappilangad town after several hours of searching the area, a police officer reported.
The officer noted that the child's body had plenty marks that appeared to be the result of an animal bite. He was taken to a hospital while unconscious. The hospital's medical staff pronounced him dead, the officer continued.
He claimed that the body had been moved to the mortuary.Additional police inquiries have begun.
Last year a similar incident happened in Kerala's Kottayam where a minor of 12 years died by an animal attack.
