A 10-year-old boy reportedly snatched Rs 1 lakh in cash from a bank counter in Bihar's Buxar district on Monday, leaving the authorities baffled. The incident took place in the Town police station area, where the boy accompanied a woman who seemed to be closely observing the bank's staff.
Narrating the incident, Anup Kumar, the chief branch manager of Punjab National Bank, said as the cashier momentarily left his seat around 12.45 pm to speak with a colleague, the young boy seized the opportunity and swiftly snatched the cash from the counter, making a quick getaway.
The bank has promptly lodged a complaint with the police, and an investigation is now underway. The police are now examining the footage from all the CCTV cameras both inside and outside the bank to gather vital clues. Additionally, authorities are also collecting information about the female account holders of the branch to aid in the ongoing inquiry.
Earlier, this month, another weird bank robbery incident from Bihar came to light in which robbers set on fire a bank after failing to get much money from the bank branch in Bihar’s Supaul district.
The incident took place in a branch of the Central Bank of India. According to reports, a cabin inside the bank branch was discovered burned, and the main gate's lock was found to be broken.
Locals discovered the fire in the early morning hours and alerted the police and fire department. The damage from the fire and the stolen money is currently being calculated by bank officials. They are also looking through the branch's CCTV footage.
