In Uttar Pradesh's Farrukhabad district, a bride called off her wedding after the Jaimala ceremony (garland exchange) when she found out the groom worked in the private sector, not in a government job as she had been told. Despite efforts to salvage the situation, the groom's family eventually left without the bride.

Groom's job turns out to be private

The bride’s family had arranged the marriage with an engineer from Balrampur, Chhattisgarh, based on an intermediary’s claims. The groom was described as a government engineer owning six plots of land and 20 bighas of farmland. However, late at night, the bride learned the groom actually worked in the private sector, which led her to refuse to go ahead with the wedding rituals.

Bride stands firm

According to agency reports, when asked about her decision, the bride stated that she had been promised a groom with a government job and was unwilling to settle for anything less. Both families were shocked by her stance, but she remained resolute and refused to change her mind.

Groom’s salary revealed

In an attempt to prove his worth, the groom requested his payslip over the phone and presented it to the bride’s family. It showed he earned a hefty monthly salary of Rs 1,20,000. Yet, this didn’t change the bride’s decision, as her priority was a government-employed partner.

Families reach a settlement

With no resolution in sight, the families decided to settle the wedding expenses amicably. After coming to a financial agreement, the groom’s family departed, marking an unexpected and dramatic end to the planned wedding.
