Preventive barrier fails at Metro station
The flooding happened after a preventive barrier meant to block water failed under the pressure of heavy rainfall. Water gushed down the station stairs, as seen in videos shared from the site. Commuters were seen walking with pants folded while climbing the stairs. Following the incident, Mumbai Metro issued a service update.“Public Notice – Mumbai Metro Line 3 Service Update - Due to an unforeseen technical issue, train services on Metro Line-3 are temporarily curtailed and will operate only up to Worli Station instead of Acharya Atre Chowk. We sincerely regret the inconvenience caused,” Mumbai Metro said in a post on X.
Monsoon arrives with heavy rain and strong winds
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) confirmed the arrival of the southwest monsoon in Mumbai. The weather office issued a red alert for the city as rain, thunderstorm, lightning, and gusty winds affected normal life.
Traffic hit, roads waterlogged

Officials are monitoring the situation as heavy rain is expected to continue.
