Mumbai's Bandra-Worli sea link toll rates to surge from next week: Here are the revised rates

Motorists traversing Mumbai's renowned Rajiv Gandhi Bandra Worli Sea Link will face a hike in toll charges starting April 1, as announced by officials from the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) on Friday.

According to a spokesperson from MSRDC, the new toll rates for one-way journeys will witness an approximately 18 per cent surge. Cars and jeeps will now be required to pay Rs 100 for a one-way trip, while minibuses, tempos, and similar vehicles will incur a fee of Rs 160.

Two-axle trucks, utilizing the cable-stayed bridge across the Arabian Sea, will be subjected to a toll of Rs 210 for a one-way passage.


Moreover, return journey passes and daily passes, valid till midnight, for frequent travelers will be priced at 1.5 times and 2.5 times their respective one-way toll charges, while monthly passes will be available at 50 times their respective one-way travel rates.

The revised toll rates will be effective from April 1, 2024, until March 31, 2027.

Presently, motorists utilizing the eight-lane overpass shell out Rs 85 for cars and jeeps, Rs 130 for minibuses, tempos, and light commercial vehicles, and Rs 175 for two-axle trucks and buses. These rates have remained unchanged since April 1, 2021.

The sea link, inaugurated for traffic in 2009, serves as a vital artery connecting Worli in the Island City and Bandra in the Western suburbs of Mumbai, facilitating south-and-north-bound travel while circumventing congestion in Mahim, Dadar, Prabhadevi, and Worli areas.

According to the MSRDC official, motorists can avail a 10 per cent rebate on the purchase of booklets containing 50 toll coupons in advance and a 20 per cent discount on booklets containing 100 toll coupons.

Plans are underway to link the sea link with the under-construction Marine Drive-Worli coastal road at the Southern end and the Bandra-Versova coastal road at the Northern end.

The first phase of the coastal road project, spanning a 10.5-km stretch between Worli and Marine Drive in south Mumbai, was recently inaugurated by Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. Notably, this section currently operates toll-free.

Anticipated to augment traffic on the coastal road upon integration with the sea link at both ends, this development underscores significant infrastructural developments aimed at enhancing Mumbai's transportation network.
