The Mumbai traffic police have issued a detailed traffic advisory for February 17 in view of the flagship event of the India-France Year of Innovation, which will be attended by the Prime Minister of India and the President of France. Several roads in South Mumbai and the Western suburbs will face temporary closures, diversions, and parking restrictions to ensure smooth movement and security.

A) South Mumbai: Restrictions from 2 pm to 9 pm

  • Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Marg: This road will remain closed to all vehicles from Regal Junction, except emergency services.
    Diversion route: Vehicles can travel via Regal Junction → Shahid Bhagat Singh Marg → Mahakavi Bhushan Road → Boman Behram Marg → onward to their destination.

  • P Ramchandani Marg: Traffic will not be allowed between North Court and Adam Street Junction, except for emergency vehicles.
    Alternative route: Motorists can use Alva Chowk → Radio Club via P Ramchandani Marg → Haji Niyaz Azmi Road → Bhid Bhanjan Mandir → take a right turn → Shahid Bhagat Singh Road → Regal Junction → turn around → Shahid Bhagat Singh Road → Mahakavi Bhushan Marg → continue onward.

  • Rambhau Salgaonkar Road: The one-way stretch between Indu Clinic Junction and Volga Chowk will temporarily operate as a two-way road from 1 pm to 4 pm.

  • No-parking areas: Parking will be prohibited on Nathalal Parekh Road, Jagannath Bhosle Road, Captain Prakash Pethe Road, Rambhau Salgaonkar Road, Shahid Bhagat Singh Road, and BK Boman Behram Marg.

  • Public transport impact: Taxi stands and BEST bus stops located on Adam Street and P Ramchandani Marg will remain closed during the restriction period.

B) Western suburbs: Western Express Highway restrictions

Movement of heavy vehicles will be barred on both northbound and southbound lanes of the Western Express Highway between Vakola Flyover and Dahisar Toll Naka from 8 am to 9 pm. However, emergency vehicles such as ambulances, fire brigade units, police vehicles, and official vehicles assigned to VVIP security will be permitted.

Authorities have advised commuters to plan their travel in advance, follow diversion signs, and cooperate with traffic personnel to avoid inconvenience.
