Mumbai local train derails at CSMT: Train services severely affected. Here are advisory, diversion, stoppages and other details

Mumbai local Harbour line services encountered a hiccup as a coach of a local train derailed while entering CSMT station on Monday afternoon.

The incident, which took place at 11:35 am, saw one trolley of the Panvel-CSMT train derail at CSMT’s platform number 2, as confirmed by a spokesperson from Central Railway (CR). Thankfully, no injuries were reported among the passengers. However, the disruption had a ripple effect on Harbour line services.

In light of the situation, CR promptly announced operational adjustments, restricting enroute trains bound for CSMT to only travel as far as Masjid station. Simultaneously, Harbour line services were limited to operating between Wadala and Masjid stations until restoration work is concluded at CSMT.


The disruption left passengers stranded, prompting some to take drastic measures by navigating onto the tracks in a bid to reach the nearest station and explore alternative road transport options.

The incident serves as a reminder of the inherent unpredictability of rail travel and the need for swift response measures to ensure passenger safety and minimal disruption to services. As efforts continue to restore normalcy, commuters are advised to stay informed about any further updates regarding the resumption of full Harbour line operations.
