Here are the key traffic restrictions and road closures across the city, as per the Free Press Journal.
Mumbai Ganesh Visarjan: Traffic Diversions and Road Closures:
Coastal Road: Open 24 hours until September 18, for smooth travel between North and South Mumbai.Eastern Freeway, P D’Mello Road, CSMT Junction, Princess Street: No restrictions.
South Mumbai:
Colaba: Nathalal Parekh Marg, Captain Prakash Pethe Marg, and Rambhau Salgaonkar Marg will be closed.
Outside CSMT: Mahapalika Marg will be closed.
Kalbadevi Area: JSS Road, Vitthalbhai Patel Road, Baba Saheb Jaykar Road, Raja Ram Mohan Roy Road, Caswasji Patel Tank Road, Sant Sena Marg, Nanubhai Desai Road, and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Road will have traffic restrictions.
Girgaon Chowpatty & Surrounding Areas: Girgaon, Thakurdwar, VP Road, JSS Road, SVP Road, and Raja Ram Mohan Roy Road.
Cuffe Parade & Colaba: Badhwar Park, Metro Junction near CSMT.
Bhendi Bazaar & DB Marg Areas: Pydhonie and nearby junctions.
Nagpada Area: Agripada, Nagpada Junction, Saat Rasta Junction, Khada Parsee Junction, NM Joshi Marg, Chinchpokli Junction, and Mumbai Central Junction.
Suggested Alternative Routes:
Dr BA Road, Lalbaug Flyover Bridge, Sir JJ Flyover, and the Coastal Road.
Suburban Traffic Restrictions:
Dadar: Hind Mata Junction, Bharat Mata Junction, Parel TT Junction, and Ranjit Bidhakar Chowk will experience congestion.
Swatantraveer Savarkar Marg (around Siddhivinayak Temple) will be closed.
Kandivali: Damu Anna Date Marg will see restrictions for immersions at Dahanukar Wadi Immersion Pool.
Borivali: LT Road near Don Bosco Junction to Borivali Jetty Road will be closed.
Railway Overbridge (ROB) Restrictions:
Only 100 people allowed to cross at a time on the following ROBs:
Ghatkopar, Currey Road, Byculla, Marine Lines, and Dadar Tilak.
Processions, dancing, and loudspeakers prohibited on these bridges for safety.
Motorists are advised to use public transport such as local trains and BEST buses, as several roads across Mumbai will be closed or congested. The traffic advisory aims to ensure a safe and smooth Ganesh Visarjan for all.
