A tragic incident occurred on Tuesday when a four-year-old girl in Mumbra died after a pet Labrador fell on her from the fifth-floor terrace of a building. Captured by CCTV cameras, it remains unclear if the dog jumped or was thrown. The mother has not filed a complaint, but police are investigating the dog's owner's actions.

The incident took place near Chirag Mansion on Dargah Road. Sana Khan, the young girl, was walking with her mother around 4:30 PM to exchange a packet of diapers when the dog fell from a terrace above. Despite being rushed to a hospital, Sana was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Police have conducted a thorough panchnama and arranged for a post-mortem examination. Sana's maternal uncle, Asif Rangrez, expressed his grief and said the dog fell from B-Wing terrace, fatally injuring his niece. The dog's owner allegedly keeps multiple canines on the terrace without proper permissions.

Rangrez claimed, "The incident occurred just because of the dog owner’s negligence. Police should take suitable action." He noted that Sana was the only daughter of a caterer who had struggled for years to conceive her.

The dog, which sustained a couple of fractures, has been sent to a rescue in Karnala. Senior Inspector Anil Shinde of Mumbra police mentioned they are checking if the owner had the necessary pet license from the civic body.

Veterinarian Kshama Shirodkar from Thane Municipal Corporation stated they will investigate the allegations. "We will also verify if there is any animal cruelty by the pet owner," Shirodkar added.

The police are verifying whether the dog’s owner had proper licenses and permissions. Despite the mother’s refusal to suspect foul play, the investigation is ongoing to ensure compliance with regulations and determine the circumstances that led to this tragic accident.

Sana’s final rites are scheduled to be performed on Wednesday. The community is left in shock and mourning after the tragic loss of the young girl.
