The management of a school in Badlapur, Maharashtra, has suspended its principal and two staff members in connection with the alleged sexual abuse of two young girls. This action comes in response to protests by parents, who blocked the Badlapur railway station Tuesday demanding stringent action against the accused.
Badlapur: Train Services Affected
Parents and local residents gathered at Badlapur railway station at around 8 am, creating a blockade to highlight their demands to the administration. The protest disrupted the movement of trains on both the Up and Down routes.Till now 10 Mail Express trains have been diverted via Karjat-Panvel-Thane station. Sweeper Sexually Abused 4-year-old girl
According to the complaint, the girls informed their parents that the attendant had touched them inappropriately, leading to a case filed under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The police subsequently arrested the attendant."Vigilance on the school premises will be increased in the wake of the incident," stated the school authorities.
The Badlapur police transferred the police station in-charge due to allegations of inaction when the parents initially approached them.
Badlapur: Huge Protest Erupts
This morning, many parents gathered outside the school demanding strict action against those responsible. Soon after, they, along with a significant number of local women, moved to the railway tracks, carrying banners and placards. They shouted slogans demanding accountability.Central Railway Chief Public Relations Officer Swapnil Nila commented on the situation, stating,
Several organizations have called for a bandh in Badlapur to protest against the incident. Local MLA Kisan Kathore has taken up the cause with the authorities, insisting on strong action against both the accused and the police personnel who failed to act promptly.
