The continuous downpour in several parts of Mumbai, Thane and adjoining areas caused severe waterlogging and also disrupted traffic movement. Reports of waterlogging have been coming in from many parts of Andheri, Goregaon, Santacruz, Powai and Khar.

The worst affected are daily commuters, who will have to wade through knee-deep water in some areas to reach homes. Meanwhile, there is no relief in sight for Mumbaikars as weather officials have issued another heavy rain warning in the city for the next 48 hours.

The Mumbai-Ahmedabad and Mumbai-Nashik highways witnessed traffic snarls amid the downpour due to poor condition of roads and potholes, officials said.

Personnel from the Thane Municipal Corporation's regional disaster management cell (RDMC) and firefighters attended to calls of water logging at several locations in Thane city.

Following the heavy rains, Andheri market has been closed for traffic after the area was waterlogged. Meanwhile, a road in Nahur east was damaged due to the rain.

There was a long queue of vehicles at the Western Express Highway and traffic moved slowly, further accelerating the problems of commuters.
