CCTV Captures Initial Rush, But Not Stampede
The footage, reportedly from a CCTV camera on the north end of platform 1, shows crowds gathering around the train as it approached, with passengers holding bags on their heads and shoulders, blocking the entrances. Some attempted to board through emergency exit windows before the train even stopped completely. The footage, which has since gone viral, does not show the actual stampede, suggesting it may have occurred beyond the camera's range.Discrepancies in Injury Reports
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation's disaster management cell reported that ten passengers were injured, while the Western Railway claimed only two were hurt. One video shared on social media showed an injured passenger lying in a pool of blood as others continued to board. Another clip showed Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel and bystanders helping injured passengers reach the hospital.With the Diwali and Chhath festivals approaching, the Western Railway has increased its service, adding more than 130 special trains to meet the demand for travel to states like Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.
