After Thane, now Railways catches record 4,000+ ticketless travellers in Mumbai's Borivili station in a day

The initiative to curb ticketless travel on the WR section began on September 30 at Dadar station, resulting in the detection of 1,647 cases and a recovery of Rs 4.22 lakh. Subsequently, similar drives were carried out at other major stations such as Andheri, Bandra, Churchgate, and even on AC locals.
Previously, the highest number of ticketless travelers caught on the WR was at Andheri station on October 3 during a "fortress check," where 2,693 offenders were apprehended, and a total of Rs 7.14 lakh was collected in fines.
In 2013, the Mumbai Rail Vikas Corporation survey found Thane to be the busiest suburban stop. During peak hours, 6.54 lakh people visit the station. Since it has 10 stations, it can handle both long-distance trains and suburban services on the Main line and the Trans-Harbour corridor. Every day, more than 1,000 services go through the stop.
