'You’ll pay a price like nobody's ever paid before': Trump recounts warning to Iran over hangings

U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Friday that a significant naval force is en route to Iran, indicating a possibility for negotiations with Tehran regarding its nuclear program while still keeping options open. "We have a large armada, a flotilla, heading toward Iran right now, even larger than what we had in Venezuela," Trump stated at the White House. He emphasized that the U.S. is sending "actually a larger number of ships" to the area. "Hopefully, we'll make a deal. If we do, that's good. If we don't, we'll see what happens," he added, mentioning that Iran is interested in reaching an agreement. "They were going to execute 837 people, and I told them, 'If you do this, you're going to pay a price like nobody's ever paid before.' And they backed down. I appreciated that... So we'll see what happens. I can say this: they do want to make a deal," he continued.
