World's first floating Apple store opens in Singapore

Apple opened its first floating store in Singapore called Apple Marina Bay Sands. Fitted with a glass dome, the store looks to be floating on water, introducing a whole new retail experience.

The all-glass dome comprises of 114 pieces of glass with only 10 narrow vertical mullions for structural connection.

The structure was influenced by the Pantheon, which has an oculus at the top of its dome which brings in a ray of light. Which interior lined with custom baffles, all of the pieces are designed uniquely in a way that allow for a nighttime light effect.

The dome is also lined with trees, and those visiting can always explore the products on display or just enjoy the view.

Singapore saw its first Apple store in 2017 at the Knightsbridge building and its second one at Jewel Changi Airport last year. The floating store is set to soon host sessions that feature the island's musicians and creators.
