US President Donald J. Trump on Wednesday revived his long-running claim over Greenland, saying the United States was “stupid” to return the territory to Denmark after World War II, as he addressed global leaders at the World Economic Forum’s annual meeting in Davos amid a standoff with Europe over the Arctic island. “We gave back Greenland to Denmark after World War II. How stupid were we to do that, we did that,” Trump said, even as he initially told the audience he was “gonna leave Greenland out of the speech.”
