'Investigate your crimes’: New Texas Democratic rep Christian Menefee sharpens attack on Trump

Democrat Christian Menefee won a Texas special election for the U.S. House of Representatives on Saturday (January 31), a result that will narrow Republicans' already slender majority in the chamber. Speaking to reporters at a victory celebration, Menefee promised to rein in President Donald Trump’s immigration crackdown, saying he would work to “tear ICE up from the roots” and, addressing Trump directly, vowed to “investigate your crimes”. President Trump told reporters on Sunday (February 1) the state Senate loss was “too bad” but said “I have nothing to do with it” because he was not on the ballot.
