Moses Mujurizi

A Ugandan man identified as Moses Mujurizi has been arrested over allegations that he murdered and consumed the bodies of 38 people between 2010 and 2025. The arrest was announced by Uganda's Chief of Defence Forces, General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, who described the suspect as one of the country's most notorious alleged serial killers.

"I am glad to inform our fellow citizens that the security forces have arrested the evil Mujurizi Moses. The worst serial killer and cannibal in Uganda's history. He killed and ate 38 people between 2010-2025 in Masaka, Ibanda and Kazo. We will try him in public and definitely execute him," Kainerugaba said in a post on X on October 26, 2026.

"This is the face of a serial killer when he arrives in the basement. I have advise for killers in Uganda. We are coming for you," he stated in another post, sharing the image of Mujurizi.

Who Is Moses Mujurizi?

Details about Mujurizi's background remain limited. According to reports surrounding his arrest, investigators suspect that he was involved in a series of violent attacks spanning several years.

The alleged crimes reportedly included attacks on families inside their homes, with victims assaulted using machetes. Some local reports have also suggested that the suspect may have had accomplices.

In one particularly disturbing account, attackers allegedly made a hole in the wall of a pastor's residence before entering and killing those inside. Mujurizi is also accused of luring people, particularly women, by pretending to pursue romantic relationships before killing them.

Authorities have reportedly recovered physical evidence from the suspect's residence. Investigators are also examining whether the allegations are connected to unresolved missing-person cases in the region.

Link to Earlier Murders in Greater Masaka

The case has drawn attention to a longer history of killings in Uganda's Greater Masaka region. Previous police investigations and media reports have referred to a suspect identified as Fred Mujulizi or Kulaish Kamugisha in connection with a series of violent crimes.

A 2013 media report stated that around 35 people had been murdered in incidents linked to the case. However, the reported figure and the precise connections between those killings and the current allegations have not been independently verified.

Earlier reports described Mujulizi as an alleged contract killer linked to attacks in areas including Masaka, Rakai, Lyantonde, Sanga and Kalisizo. Those accounts also suggested that investigators had struggled to apprehend the suspect.

It remains unclear whether Moses Mujurizi and the individual identified in those earlier reports are the same person. The connection between the cases, if any, requires confirmation from Ugandan authorities.

Recent Murder and Human Trafficking Case

A related case involving a suspect identified as Mujulizi reportedly came before the Masaka Grade One Magistrate's Court on October 16, 2026. The charges included murder and human trafficking in connection with a killing in Greater Masaka.

According to reports, the case involved the alleged luring and murder of a woman, purportedly in connection with witchcraft. Mujulizi and an alleged accomplice were reportedly remanded to Masaka Central Prison until November 5, 2026, while investigations continued.

The relationship between this court case and the allegations announced by Kainerugaba on October 26 remains unclear.
