‘White House will smell like curry’: Trump ally Laura Loomer’s ‘racist’ comment on Kamala Harris’s potential victory sparks outrage

Remarks from a prominent Trump associate have sparked controversy after a rant that included racist tropes about Vice President Kamala Harris. Laura Loomer, a far-right activist connected to former President Donald Trump, made comments on social media suggesting that if Harris became President, the White House "will smell like curry" and her speeches would be facilitated by a call center. The post was a response to Harris celebrating her Indian heritage.


Loomer’s comments were condemned by various individuals, including Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene, who called them "appalling and extremely racist." Loomer responded to Greene by attacking her character on social media, illustrating deep divisions within the MAGA movement. Loomer, who lost a Congressional bid in a Florida district that includes Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate, later claimed her comments were meant to be humorous.


However, the use of racist rhetoric has been noted at higher levels, with Trump and his running mate JD Vance supporting unfounded claims about violent and criminal behavior by immigrants. Trump aide Stephen Miller also defended these assertions when questioned by Hispanic journalists, despite official U.S. statistics showing a decline in crime rates.
