White House, Capitol Hill turn into winter wonderland as US braces for massive snow storm

Blanket of steady snow covered White House & Capitol Hill as a sprawling winter storm targeted much of the U.S. Washington received its first major snow storm of season, on Jan 25, bringing teams of workers out to clear snow from federal buildings. As crews worked to remove snow, nearby residents braved cold temperatures & slick weather conditions to play in snow outside the Capitol. Forecasters said snow, sleet, freezing rain & dangerously frigid temperatures would sweep eastern two-thirds of nation. Calling the storms “historic”, President Donald Trump approved federal emergency disaster declarations in several parts.
