A tweet from Serbia
Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan was left embarrassed by a public message shared on Twitter by the country's embassy in Serbia. It asked how long the government expected its officials to remain silent when they have not been paid for the last three months.

'Aap ne ghabrana nahi'
The verified Twitter account had tweeted, "With inflation breaking all previous records, how long do you expect @ImranKhanPTI that we [government] official will remain silent & keep working for you without been paid for past 3 months & our children been forced out of school due to non payment of fees. Is this #NayaPakistan?"

Parody song
A parody song was also embedded in the tweet that mocked Khan for his often used catchphrase 'ghabrana nahi hai (we do not have to worry)'. In a tweet, the embassy said: "I am sorry @ImranKhanPTI, am not left with another option."

Account Hacked?
Pakistani officials later claimed that the social media accounts of the embassy had been hacked. "The Twitter, Facebook and Instagram accounts of the Embassy of Pakistan in Serbia have been hacked. Messages being posted on these accounts are not from the Embassy of Pakistan in Serbia," it said. The tweets have been deleted now and the govt has started an enquiry into it.

‘Please, give us Old Pakistan’
Imran Khan came to power in August 2018 with the promise to create a “Naya (new) Pakistan”, but the slogan has now turned into a joke with common people often demanding that he should give them back the ‘Purana (old) Pakistan'. Khan however accuses the opposition parties of destroying institutions and making it difficult to improve the economic situation. He also blames "mafias" for souring his efforts.

Pakistan’s Problems
Pakistan is struggling to contain inflation, which soared to 11.5 per cent earlier this week, the highest spike in the last 20 months. According to The New International, the country's economy which was increased by 36 per cent during 2013-2018 has now nosedived by 16 per cent from 2018-2020. The per capita income that stood at USD 1,482 in 2018 tumbled to USD 1,194 in 2020 As per IMF, Pakistan's per capita income stands at USD 1,260 in 2021.
