‘Unacceptable, stupid’: Macron accuses foreign leaders of making political gain from France unrest

French President Emmanuel Macron on Wednesday (October 21) condemned comments by “foreign leaders” campaigning for election about the protests marred by violence in France on October 17, speaking during a tour of Gulf countries. "There was foreign manipulation of information afterwards, yes, and that gave rise to unacceptable and stupid comments from many people, including foreign leaders," he told reporters. Asked by a journalist, Macron replied that Donald Trump was one of those leaders, without ever naming the US president.
