UN General Assembly approves resolution granting Palestine new rights
UN General Assembly voted to provide Palestine with additional "rights and privileges" and urged the Security Council to reconsider its request for membership in the United Nations. The resolution, sponsored by Arab and Palestinian representatives, was endorsed by the 193-member world body with a vote of 143-9, with 25 abstentions.
