China may have little to cheer as on date following the historic victory of Donald Trump as the US President, even as it hoped for "peaceful coexistence" with Washington.

India will keep a close watch on Trump's China policy in the backdrop of his previous hardline approach towards the world's second-biggest economy and the agreement that New Delhi and Beijing reached on disengagement and ultimate de-escalation of troops in eastern Ladakh.

In his first stint, Trump had imposed tariffs on Chinese goods for what he said were unfair practices by Beijing. The Modi government will also monitor Trump's Iran policy given the experience last time.


Trump pulled out from the Iran deal jeopardising India's oil imports from Tehran and overall trade ties with the Persian Gulf country. India has signed a 10-year pact with Iran this May on the Chabahar Port project.
