Trump’s 24k gold gift turns spotlight on Apple’s quiet tariff backdoor deal
Apple CEO Tim Cook gifted President Trump a unique 24-karat gold-based glass piece, made in the US, during a White House event celebrating Apple’s manufacturing expansion. In return, Trump announced tariff relief for companies like Apple that build domestically. Apple pledged an additional $100 billion investment, raising its total US commitment to $600 billion, with all iPhone and Apple Watch cover glass soon to be made in America.
