U.S. President Donald Trump said on Tuesday that he had just signed documents moving economic aide Stephen Miran to the Federal Reserve Board after Miran was confirmed to the post by the Senate.

Trump, who has been sharply critical of Fed Chair Jerome Powell, also told reporters as he departed the White House for a trip to Britain that the Fed needs to be independent.
