US President Donald Trump said Iran has assured Washington that it is not seeking tolls, insurance fees or any other charges from ships transiting the Strait of Hormuz, pushing back against what he described as inaccurate media reports on the issue.

In a post on social media, Trump said Tehran had informed the United States that no such payments were being sought or collected from vessels using the strategic waterway. He added that if the information proved to be incorrect, negotiations between the two countries would end immediately.

"Iran has informed the U.S. that, despite troublemaking Fake News ‌reporting to the contrary, there are 'NO TOLLS, NO INSURANCE COSTS, & NO OTHER CHARGES OF ANY KIND BEING SOUGHT OR RECEIVED BY IRAN ON SHIPS TRAVELING THE STRAIT OF HORMUZ' he wrote in the Truth Social post.

Trump also said no money had been transferred to Iran by the United States. However, he said Washington plans to use Iranian funds under U.S. control to purchase agricultural commodities, including corn, wheat and soybeans, from American farmers and ranchers for delivery to Iran, citing the country's food needs.

The comments underscored lingering gaps between the two sides despite a framework deal reached last week. After an initial round of follow-up negotiations in Switzerland on Monday, Washington and Tehran have presented conflicting interpretations of several core provisions, including economic concessions for Iran, navigation through the Strait of Hormuz and Israel's concurrent war in Lebanon.
