US President Donald Trump says he will become a “political pundit” to analyse the reasons behind candidates’ wins and losses
US President Donald Trump has said he plans to turn “political pundit” to examine why candidates won or lost in the 2026 midterm elections, which saw Democrats make major gains and take control of the House of Representatives.

“I’m going to become a Political Pundit, both good and bad, on the reasons these Candidates won and lost!” Trump wrote on social media.

The midterm results marked a major setback for Trump and congressional Republicans, with Democrats winning control of the House and have retaken control of the U.S. Senate.

Democrats also made inroads in traditionally Republican states, as concerns over the rising cost of living, the state of the US economy and the war in Iran weighed on voters.
