Trump and Putin leave Alaska after ‘no deal’ is reached on Russia-Ukraine war
US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin held talks for more than three hours in Alaska on the war in Ukraine. Trump, at the joint news conference which followed, called the talks “extremely productive”, but added that the two “did not get there” – meaning there was no deal on a ceasefire. Putin described the meeting as the starting point for a resolution, and seemed to surprise the US president by suggesting their next meeting should be in Moscow. Trump said he would be calling Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and European leaders soon.
