Hisam Qamar, the chief of the Hizbut Tahrirs Karachi chapter, was picked up from the K-Electric office yesterday with two other suspects by the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) of Karachi police.
Qamar worked as deputy general manager in K-Electric.
CTD SSP Usman Bajwa told reporters the three suspects were being interrogated for their activities and links to terror outfits.
A lot of propaganda material was also collected from his possession.
Qamar was involved in spreading propaganda about his banned outfit among influential people, Bajwa said.
Other serious charges against Qamar included posting bail money for suspected militants and instigating the people associated with important educational institutions against the country's laws and the mode of governance.
The Hizbut Tahrir propagates a Caliphate system of governance and espouses the same ideology as by the dreaded terrorist group ISIS that has occupied large swathes of land in Syria and Iraq.
