Democratic Sen. Tim Kaine questioned Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Dan Caine and Secretary of War Pete Hegseth during a tense Senate exchange over U.S. military actions. Kaine pressed for the legal justification behind U.S. strikes on alleged drug trafficking boats in the Caribbean Sea. He also questioned Hegseth on whether U.S. involvement in the Iran conflict has reached the 60-day limit under the War Powers Resolution of 1973.
