The most advanced self-driving vehicle was launched in Japan by Honda on Friday. Called 'The Legend', it can drive in lanes easily and also has the ability to pass and switch roads.

In case of an emergency, the car has a stop function which comes into play when the driver is unresponsive. The car has undergone extensive safety testing as the car has been tested in 10 million varying simulation. The limited rollout of the Legend will allow Honda to ascertain if there is sufficient demand for such cars.

On a 0-5 scale of vehicle autonomy, 5 meaning total autonomy, the Legend is a 3. While many companies have already manufactured cars with level 3 autonomy, there are only a handful of countries that permit their sale.
