Thailand working 'little bit more' on US trade deal, expects info on tariffs in 24 hours

Thailand is still working "a little bit more" on trade deal with United States as the countrye expects to receive information on US tariffs within 24 hours.

Thailand's Finance Minister took to X on Thursday to share that the country expects to receive information on the US tariff rate within 24 hours.

After the US commerce secretary said a deal had been done, the finance minister told Reuters that the country is still working a little but more on trade details with US.


Asked whether the United States had reached an agreement with Thailand, Pichai Chunhavajira told Reuters: "Don't make me say anything just yet. There's just a little bit more that I need to get back (to the U.S.)".

On Wednesday, US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick in an interview with Fox News said Washington has made trade deals with Cambodia and Thailand ahead of President Donald Trump's August 1 tariff deadline.

Thailand's Finance Minister said on X that the country expects to receive information on the US tariff rate within 24 hours.

Meanwhile, Malaysia is expecting the US tariff announcement on Friday, as said by Malaysia's prime minister after he spoke to Trump on Thursday.

Anwar Ibrahim shared the information while speaking in parliament to table the country's new five-year economic plan. He also said the American president confirmed that he would attend an ASEAN summit in October.
