Karachi: Two women of a Sindh family were shot dead in a terror attack while security forces killed seven terrorists in two separate incidents in the restive Balochistan province of Pakistan, officials said on Sunday.

The terrorists were killed in the Kharan district of the province during an operation while several other terrorists were injured, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), military's media wing.

The operation was conducted in the Laje area of Kharan on Saturday night following reports of terrorists' presence, the ISPR said, adding, seven terrorists belonging to Fitna al-Khwarij were killed in the operation.

Khawarij is a term that the state uses for banned organisations.

This round of security operations in Balochistan began following a deadly attack on a police check post at the Mangi Dam pumping station in Ziarat on July 6. Armed attackers had kidnapped and killed 27 policemen.

The ISPR on August 12 said 18 terrorists were among 21 people killed after a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device detonated prematurely while being prepared, followed by a security operation in the province.

Before that, as many as 20 terrorists were killed over a period of two days, August 9 and 10 in the province.

In another terror incident on Saturday, a family from Karachi that was visiting Balochistan on a business matter, came under attack in Segi, a tribal area in Qilla Abdullah in the Balochistan province.

A tribal group opened fire on the vehicle in which the family was travelling after it failed to stop, police said.

Two women were killed in the firing while a man and his daughter were injured and shifted to the Trauma Centre in Quetta, Balochistan's capital, in critical condition.

A police official said that Segi is considered a no-go area because of an ongoing tribal war.
