American real estate agent Tarek El Moussa insisted his 16-year-old daughter Taylor “earned” the luxury car he gifted her. Tarek, his wife Heather Rae El Moussa and his ex-wife Christina Haack surprised the teenager, whom he shares with Haack, with the luxury $150,000 BMW X5 in August, ahead of her sweet 16th the following month. On Money Rehab podcast, he said Taylor didn’t expect the expensive gift, revealing that she’d have been happy with a “used Honda”. He also shared his daughter's achievements that Taylor got a 4.2 GPA and being MVP of her freshman soccer team.

“She looks at things differently than I do,” he continued. “If she were going to be a spoiled brat, she probably wouldn’t have got the 4.2 GPA, she probably wouldn’t have been MVP of our soccer team, and she probably wouldn’t have done the extra coaching, right? For me, this is a reward for all the work she’s done.”

“She’s an absolutely fantastic kid and didn’t just get it. She actually earned it and, if you ask me, she deserved it because she worked really, really hard and didn’t even ask for that car,” Tarek said.

Tarek El Moussa says daughter would have been happy...

The television personality noted Taylor would have “been happy with a used Honda,” but the BMW was actually more for his peace of mind. “That thing is built like a tank,” he marveled, adding, “She’s in a safe car, and she loves it.”

Tarek insisted that his daughter was not “a spoiled brat,” and that he was already being responsible about her financial future by investing her in stocks and real estate her whole life.

“She was flying in private jets when she was like, 1 years old, OK, so this kid, she’s grown up around things,” he pointed out. “So when I grew up, I didn’t have anything, right? So I’m obsessed with things because I never had things.”

“She’s always had things,” he continued. “So, she looks at things different than I look at things.”

“Okay, first of all, can you adopt me?” former CNN and CNBC anchor Lapin, 42, joked, before asking Tarek whether he was worried the car might “spoil” her.

“Here’s the truth,” he replied. “She was flying in private jets when she was, like, 1 year old. So this kid has grown up around things. When I grew up, I didn’t have anything, right? So I’m obsessed with things because I never had things. She’s always had things.” He added that he’s been teaching her financial literacy, too, and that she’s invested in stocks and real estate.
