The Albula/Bernina track from Preda to Berguen will be travelled by the 1.9-kilometer-long (1.2-mile-long) railway, which will have 100 coaches and four engines. The route, which includes 48 bridges, the renowned Landwasser Viaduct, and 22 tunnels, some of which wind through mountains, was declared a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2008.
It will take about an hour to travel the 25 kilometres (15.5 miles) in total. Renato Fasciati, director of the Rhaetian Railway, stated that setting the record was accomplished to commemorate 175 years of Swiss railroads and to draw attention to some of Switzerland's engineering accomplishments.
