Situation in global economy requires considering views of different states: Putin

The situation in the global economy requires consensus and consideration of the opinions of different countries, Russian President Vladimir Putin said while speaking at the G20 virtual summit.

"Now the situation in the global economy, and in the world as a whole, requires collective, consensus decisions that reflect the opinion of the overwhelming majority of the international community, both developed and developing countries," Putin said.

The Russian leader pointed out that the world is undergoing processes of radical transformation.


"New powerful centers of global economic development are emerging and strengthening. A significant share of global investment, trade and consumer activity is shifting to Asian, African and Latin American regions, where most of the world's population lives. Turbulence in markets is increasing. Chronic problems are worsening in the international financial sector, in the sphere of energy and food security," he said.

Putin drew the attention of his G20 colleagues to the fact that Russia continues to export food.

"Russia fulfills all its obligations in this area [food security] and remains one of the largest food exporters," he said.

Putin also announced the start of free supplies of Russian grain to Africa.

"Today, I want to inform you, the first ships with free Russian grain have been sent to Africa, in particular, to countries in need," he said.
