An aide to Muhammad Yunus, Alam's statements come as the interim government of Bangladesh is working to stabilize the country, amid protests and attacks on minorities groups.
Bangladesh remains on edge after former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's ouster on August 5, 2024. Hasina landed in India, seeking asylum as protesters stormed the Presidential palace in Dhaka.
The nation's armed forces then announced the formation of a new government with Nobel Laureate Muhammad Yunus as the Chief Advisor.
The protests have severely impacted Bangladesh's economy, and led to violent bloodshed. The interim government is scrambling to bring the economy back on track, however, the protests that rose under PM Hasina's government have only resulted in a fallout for several sectors, including hospitality and textile.
