Singapore's Changi airport may double capacity by 2020

HYDERABAD: Singapore's Changi Airport expects its passenger handling capacity to go up to 135 million a year by 2020 from the present 66 million.

Robin Goh, assistant vice-president (corporate and marketing communications), Changi Airport Group, today said here that construction work of terminal-IV is in full swing and it will be operational by 2017.

"The airport currently has three terminals. It handled 53.7 million passenger movements last year. Terminal-IV has the capacity to handle 16 million passengers. We are also planning Terminal-V which can handle 50 million passengers. We are also in the process of setting up Project Jewel (a life style complex). With all these developments the passenger capacity will go up to 135 million," Goh told PTI.

Project jewel is expected to open in mid 2020. India is one of the biggest markets for Changi Airport, he said.
