Singapore appoints Non-Resident High Commissioner to Pakistan
SINGAPORE: Singapore has appointed a veteran diplomat Ong Keng Yong as its Non-Resident High Commissioner to Pakistan, officials said today.

With a diplomatic career spanning 35 years, Ambassador- at-Large Ong had been Singapore's High Commissioner to India from August 1996 to August 1998 and High Commissioner to Malaysia from July 2011 till last month, said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Among other postings, Ong has served as a Non-Resident Ambassador to Iran.

Ong is currently Executive Deputy Chairman of the S Rajaratnam School of International Studies and Director of the school's Institute of Defence and Strategic Studies.

He was also Secretary-General of ASEAN from 2003 to 2008 and had served as press secretary to then-Prime Minster Goh Chok Tong from 1998 to 2002.
