WASHINGTON: Sikh community in the US will hold commemorative events, including solemn religious observances, in 14 US cities to mark the third anniversary of the Oak Creek Gurdwara massacre that killed six worshippers.

The Sikh Coalition -- a community-based organisation that works toward the realisation of civil and human rights -- will mark the third anniversary on August 1 of the 2012 Wisconsin Sikh temple shooting.

"To commemorate the anniversary, the Oak Creek sangat (congregation) will organise the Chardhi Kala (a Punjabi term that refers to a state of constant optimism) 6K Memorial Walk and Run on August 1," Sikh Coalition's official website said.

Six Sikh worshippers were killed and 20 others were injured when a US Army veteran and white supremacist named Wade Michael Page went on a shooting rampage inside the Gurdwara on August 5, 2012.
